Car Window Tinting Benefits
There are many benefits to tinting your car windows. One of the biggest advantages of an automotive window film is its ability to reject up to 99% of the sun’s rays. Our 3M film options provide a level of natural light while ensuring occupants and car interiors are protected against harmful UV rays.
Heat rejection will help preserve your car’s interior and add to the long-term value of your vehicle. Not to mention an automotive window tint will enhance the level of comfort in your car with glare reduction and temperature regulation in both summer and winter months. Window films can also elevate your car’s appearance and provide a level of privacy.

-
- Total Solar Energy Rejected (TSER): The percentage of total solar energy rejected by filmed glass. The higher this value, the less solar heat is transmitted.
- Visible Light Transmitted: The percentage of visible light that passes directly through filmed glass: the higher the number, the lighter the film.
- UV Rejection: The percentage of harmful ultraviolet light that is rejected by filmed glass. Ultraviolet light contributes to sunburn and other harmful skin conditions and to the fading and deterioration of fabrics and leather.
- Glare Reduction: The percentage by which visible light is reduced by the addition of film.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are some benefits of auto window tinting?
- Car window films can not only provide a sleek aesthetic to your car, but they also provide a level of protection for you and your interior against harmful UV rays. A paint protection film can also shield your car’s exterior from damage and scratches.
How much does a car window tint cost?
- The price of your service will vary depending on your film, your service, and your vehicle. Contact The Tint Guy for a free estimate.
How long does it take to tint my vehicle?
The amount of time varies, depending on your type of vehicle. A complete car can take 2 to 4 hours. Full-sized trucks generally take between an hour and an hour and a half. A set of front doors usually only takes 30-45 minutes. If old aftermarket film has to be removed, that can add anywhere from 30 minutes to half a day.
What is the law for tinting my vehicle in Ga?
Georgia law is different for sedans and SUVs. For a sedan: a non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the front windshield. Side windows, back side windows, and the rear window must allow more than 32% of light in. For SUVs and vans: a non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the front windshield. Front side windows must allow more than 32% of light in while the back side windows and the rear window can have any darkness. Read more about exceptions, penalties, etc. here.
How long do I need to wait before rolling down my windows?
We recommend that you leave your vehicle windows rolled up for at least 24-48 hours after window film has been installed. This allows the film to cure and adhere to the glass before the window is moved.
Can I have tint installed over the factory tinted glass?
Yes you can. we can install window film directly on the factory tinted glass making it darker. The factory tinted glass is a pigment in the glass giving its color.
Aftermarket window film has many more solar benefits than factory window tint. Factory tint only rejects part of the UV rays, and only rejects a small amount of heat. Aftermarket window film rejects 99% of ultraviolet rays and between 35%-60% of heat, depending on the film level used. In addition to these benefits, darkening factory tinted glass will give you more privacy for storing your personal items in the back of the vehicle.
Are you guys mobile or do I have to bring it to your location?
We only install window film on vehicles inside our clean, air-conditioned facility. This way we have complete control over the environment we install window film in. This is how we control the quality of the install.
We do not recommend any kind of mobile service due to the quality of the installs and the inability to get warranty service if needed.
Why do I see little bubbles or patchiness soon after installation?
This is very normal. Water is used to activate the adhesive and to allow us to move the film around and position it for a perfect installation. Although we squeegee out as much of the water as possible, some small amount remains between the glass and the film. As this water evaporates through the film you may see some little bubbles or foggy patches. These should go away within a few days or up to two weeks(during the colder months of the year.) Never poke, prod, or pop these bubbles, they will go away on their own.
Can I have my 2 front doors tinted to match the rear factory tinted glass?
Yes. However, having this level of window film on front doors is not legal in Georgia. Factory tinted glass is usually 15%-22% V.L.T. Georgia window tint law requires that the front doors be no darker than 32% net(Film & Glass ), which is lighter than the rear window of your factory tinted vehicle.
Can window film ever be removed?
Yes, Window Film can be removed at any time after the installation. As a tint professional we know all the tips and tricks on proper tint removal. Please call us if you require a removal. It is a very tough and messy job, not recommended for beginners.
What do I use to clean my tinted windows?
We recommend using any glass cleaner that is ammonia-free and soft paper towels or a microfiber cloth. Always clean your windows in the shades and use a dry cloth for final drying to prevent streaks.
Why do I see bubbled or purple tint on cars?
Unfortunately, there are companies out there that use low-quality products and are inexperienced in the proper installation of window films. All the window films we offer come with a full lifetime warranty for materials and labor from the manufacturer. We register this warranty for you so you will always be protected. If a problem ever arises all you need to do is return for warranty service or call the 1-800 # on your warranty card.
