I have had 4 cars done here - a convertible and 3 SUVs. I kept the factory tint on the rear windows... of the SUV and matched the front windows. What is the law for tinting my vehicle in Georgia?
- The percentage of visible light allowed through your car’s windows is called VLT: Visible Light Transmission.
- The percentage of light allowed through your film and glass in Georgia is very specific and different for sedans, SUVs, and vans.
- Tint darkness for sedans: Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield. Front Side windows: Must allow more than 32% of light in. Back Side windows: Must allow more than 32% of light in. Rear Window: Must allow more than 32% of light in.

Do you offer different shades of window tinting?
Yes, The Tint Guy offers a selection of VLT percentages. From 5% dark to 90% clear, we can meet a wide range of personal preferences and can help walk you through the process. Regardless of the shade you opt for, our premium films aim to improve your view. They permit visible light into your vehicle while repelling heat, ensuring clarity through your windows, and preserving your car’s authentic look. While a top-notch automotive window film can alter the look of your windows, it doesn’t necessarily have to.
Will window tinting interfere with my car's electronics, like GPS or radio signals?
Professionally installed window tint from The Tint Guy will not interfere with GPS or radio signals. We only offer high-quality film options that are designed not to obstruct electronic signals.
Can I have tint installed over the factory-tinted glass?
Yes, we can do this for you. We can apply window film directly onto factory-tinted glass to make it even darker. The color in factory-tinted glass comes from a pigment embedded within it. Aftermarket window film, however, offers superior solar advantages compared to standard factory tint. While factory tint only blocks a fraction of UV rays and a minimal amount of heat, aftermarket films can block up to 99% of UV rays and reject 35%-60% of heat, contingent on the film type chosen. Beyond these benefits, enhancing the darkness of factory-tinted glass also boosts privacy, ideal for keeping personal items concealed in the rear of your vehicle.
